19 September 2000. The University of New England, Australia, recently
released version 3.0 of their interactive soil science CD-ROM, entitled
appropriately enough, "OzSoils".
CrystalMaker user, Dr Peter Lockwood, produced interactive QuickTime movies
to illustrate clay and other soil mineral structures. The movies were
generated by CrystalMaker, using its built in QuickTime and QuickTime Virtual
Reality video recorder feature.
OzSoils includes four main sections, covering the nutrient and
hydrological cycles, soil structure and the relationship between
soil and landscape. The modules use a flexible, self-directed
learning structure and are designed to be relevant to a wide range
of disciplines including ecology, biology, geology and
engineering.
OzSoils is published by the
University of New England (School of Rural Science and Natural
Resources), Armidale, NSW 2351, Australia;
