This problem seems to be associated with older versions of the
Macintosh operating system (before Mac OS 8.6), and relates to
the pre-Navigation Services file dialogs. Upgrading to
Mac OS 9, or later, seems to fix these problems.
When displaying file dialog boxes, CrystalMaker uses standard
operating system procedures, requesting that certain types of
files (e.g., CrystalMaker binary files) are listed. If problems
do occur, they are most likely due to corrupted system software and/or
an out-of-date desktop database file.
The desktop database file is an invisible file which the system
uses to keep track of which documents "belong" to which application -
and hence, which icons to be display for different file types. You
can force the system to update (rebuild) your desktop database by
restarting your Mac with the command and option keys held down.
If rebuilding your desktop doesn't fix the file dialog problem,
you should try checking your system with a disc utility package
(e.g., Disk First Aid, or Norton Utilities) - or consider
upgrading your system to a more recent version (e.g., Mac OS 9, or
later).
